⚠️ My Confrontation Toolbox

I readily admit that I’m horrible at dealing with confrontation. So horrible in fact, I’ll do whatever is possible to entirely avoid it.

My Confrontation Toolbox contains the following methods:

  • Running in the opposite direction of the conflict
  • Freezing and saying nothing
  • Changing the subject; how about that weather?
  • Sweat and dry-heave
  • Go blank and sing a song in my head
  • Burst into tears/ugly cry

This way of managing conflict is not ideal by any means, and is a result of the household I grew up in and the way I was raised.

Nobody is born this way. You go through things that make you this way, and I’ve been through some things. But that doesn’t mean I can’t change.

And I’m trying my best. I really am.
